Artist's Description

SP03-3355-PD
I often refer to myself as a Port Rat...as I've spent most of my life living in port cities in the Puget Sound. I took this photo from my cousin Steve's tuna fishing boat as we arrived back in port. Large commercial fishing boats line the docks as a smaller gill netter passes by.

The Port of Astoria was named for John Jacob Astor who founded Fort Astoria in 1811 and is located near the mouth of the Columbia River on the Oregon side and is historically also one of the major ports.
