My heart is in the Pacific Northwest and Mexico. The day I captured this scene (on film) my daily wanderings through the streets of the old town (city withheld) had led me to an area of historic buildings and the magic of the architecture drew me in and I knocked. I explained my wonder to the young man who answered my knock...at the light and beauty of the interior that was obvious to another artist passing by and was invited in. He was the occupant's assistant. With broken English and what was not what my ear told me ..he was not speaking Spanish but I had heard Latin as a young catholic schoolgirl...I narrowed it down to Italian...and also because of his swagger a much more delicate movement than most Mexican men. He invited me and my companion in and I was so visually turned on that I couldn't speak. I just stumbled both mentally and emotionally and certainly verbally. I was given the impression that we shouldn't linger very long. Only a quick look around. It was obvious that there was someone else nearby..in the shadows watching us not wanting to be bothered or seen. My eyes told me this was a Master Restorer's Studio and as I was able to examine the photos after developing and printing...I believe I was right. Unfortunately, I was shooting film instead of digital and a 35mm manual Nikon at that. This was also a time that I was losing more of my sight and I missed the focus on some. I've worn glasses since 3rd grade and I had not yet purchased one of the new 'auto-focus' cameras. After being out shooting all morning I was just about out of film except for the ASA 64 roll in camera. I was shooting mostly outdoors in the brightness that is Mexico. Anyrate, I got off a few quickly and discreetly..but, what was there that I captured.. have been in love with it ever since I saw the scene and was blessed to have captured it. I've only printed a few of these images and it is as shot and not digitally manipulated.
